I didn't do any of the coding, just the design. Was first designed in Photoshop, then transferred and about half redone in The Gimp.

For all who are interested, Shanel and I have put up a new forum which can be accessed from the original Doodlesoup forum. Or you can reach it by going to this url. It's also on my links list on the right in this blog.

The name of the forum is Spiritualsoup as you may have guessed. It's a forum dedicated to information and discussion about Biblical born again Christianity. Although it will/does have a complete Christian bias, that does not mean that people outside of the faith can not come in and maturely discuss topics that pertain to Christianity. In fact, that is highly desired by both Shanel and I.

There will be no slander and badmouthing towards anyone from any side of the discussions that may take place as well. So feel free to check it out.

Hey everyone, I'm happy to say that our company website www.coolriot.com is finally up and running. Please feel free to check it out, sign up if you want, and finally get to see what I've been working on all these months.

This site is what our company Media MouseTrap( previously, PenguinFire Media) is all about. So, the site will be constantly expanding daily with bug fixs and bi-weekly with new applications(sections).

Right now you can play games daily for a chance to win prizes to different businesses in the Fredericton area only. However, by march, we should be open to all of Atlantic Canada if things go well. This means that everyone in Atlantic Canada will be able to play the games and pick up the prizes in their nearest city.

Certainly, the plan is to spread out even further to all of Canada after that. But we'll see how things go.

Please critique the site and especially the visual portion of it since that's what I've had my hand in. Let me know what can be improved, completely changed, what works well, new ideas, any bugs that need to be fixed and so on.

Hey guys, here's a quick update of Stiltzkin the crow. A character I was working on in my spare time for work.

I know he's blue and he has an orange beak. But remember, sometimes black can be so dark that it appears blue and as for the beak, well... he got bit by a radio-active spider.

In other news, I'd just like to apologize in case there were some people who were trying to reply to some of my earlier posts. I had changed some of the options on my blog not realizing that one of them made it so I had to authorize comments before they were posted. I think I must have been annoyed at all the spam comments I was getting. But anywho, it's back to normal so please comment.

Gargamel's Wife

Well it's been about a month since my last update. Wupps. I got nothing, no excuse. But I will continue to try to update more.

Here's a character I drew for work lately that isn't being used at the moment.

Her name is Gruntilda, she's british, loves to drink tea, eat crumpets, and play bingo. Yes that's her life in a nutshell. Oh did I mention she was married to Gargamel?!

An update on things!!

Just to give everybody an update of what's going on in my life at the moment. I'm busier then ever. A big part of this is work related. We have another huge deadline to make so I'll be working into the evenings some and on weekends as well at least for another 4 weeks about.

Also though I've finally gone ahead and begun going for my driver's liscense. I started taking a driver's training program about 3 weeks ago and that takes up all my Monday and Tuesday evenings.

But all that being said, things are going great; I'm very content.

The CoolRiot site still isn't up to show you guys but it will be soon and I'll let everyone know once again when it is up.

Monster and Doodlesoup origins

Hey guys, finally here's another drawing. This is the Monster Parachute drawing I did for the challenge on the forum last night.

Description:
"The monster's name is Grogberg and he's actually the friendliest monster in the world. He adopts children and loves to sing Beach Boys songs by campfires. There's only one thing in the world though that can possibly make him mad.....and that is airplanes."

Also I'd like to publicly thank Celia for being the one who came up with the "Doodlesoup" name which I've used for my blog, website, and forum. It's a great name and she deserves all the credit. I should have thanked her earlier. Thank you Celia!

Until I get my scanner back, I won't be able to post up any new art but here's an old layout. One of my favorite layouts I've done I'd say. It was painted somewhat quickly in Photoshop. Before it was painted, I drew it up on pan paper using an animation disc for those unaware.

Just a quick update today to let everyone know that the forum was updated last night with a new look. So if you've already seen the forum with it's old bland green color, then check it out now. I think it looks much better.

On a further note, we do have our first debate going on the forums regarding whether video games are as legitamate of an artform as movies and literature. If you have an opinion then let's hear it.

What is a Penguin Fire???

To respond to a comment posted earlier by Mr. Lee himself, here is a quick explanation of PenguinFire Media and what my purpose is there.

PenguinFire Media(PFM) is a company that's working on re-releasing a website known as "www.coolriot.com". This website was around back in 2000 and its function is to allow people to win prizes and coupons by playing games (aka. scratch and win, etc.) . These prizes involve local companies that advertise themselves on the site.

Of course the site has other functions too. There are a lot of daily things such as "Joke of the day", "Weather", "Film Listings", and so on.

I'm a Graphic Designer basically for the time being. But I'll also be designing characters, website layouts , and some animations along with designing graphics.

So far it's pretty fun and hopefully will only get better.

Now that we got that out of the way, I have a question for you Mr. Lee. In your comment you say that you couldn't find out exactly what a PenguinFire was but that, and I quote, " I search it and all i find is strange banner, we've been wondering for some time and have become obsessed...". This "we" and "have become obsessed" business deeply disturbs me. So my question is, ........

are you wearing a symbiote and if so is it Ryan MacNeil? That is all.

Internet Finally!!

Well Nick(my room mate) and I, finally have high speed since Friday. It didn't come without a fight though. It was running extremely slow until about an hour ago this evening. We couldn't figure out why until Nick suggested that perhaps the 30 feet(literally) of phone cord I had might be too long. After 2 or 3 Aliant phone calls we went with Nick's intuition and switched up the cord. Now everything is purring like a kitten. Or something to that effect.

So finally, here's some more artwork. Some old sketches if you will. Intelligent critiques are more then welcome. INTELLIGENT I SAID!!!

I believe it was Mr. Luke who first made the hilarious correlation between the business I work at; PenguinFire Media, and the classic video games known as Megaman. Luke continued the topic by asking, "What does PenguinFire beat anyways?"

For those of you, not in the know, Megaman is a video game originally made on the NES which spun a wealth of sequals. Most of them used the same formula, in which case, you would beat a boss, (ie. Iceman) and gain his power to defeat another enemy (ie. Fireman).

SO!!!! Back to the question. If I received PenguinFire by beating the NBCC boss (I graduated), then what boss does the ability PenguinFire kill?

Please answer, I must know!!

Apology and work

Once again I must apologize. Not for smuggling weapons though.... I'll never apologize for th-I mean I'd never do that. This time I apologize for not updating my site and certainly not updating it with any REAL content.

As many of you know, I'm working in Fredericton now and just found an apartment this past weekend. I won't be receiving internet until Friday so please wait until then, in which case I will start posting artwork up again.

On another note, work is going well here at PenguinFire Media. I am however having a difficult time figuring out how to colour well in Photoshop. Alas not enough of Jeff's Photoshop knowledge has rubbed off on me. However, I will pursevere and if anyone knows some good tutorial sites or anything that could help me out, I'm all ears.

Confessions of an office dullard (Part II)

Day4 CONTINUED . . .
Work was a breeze today. No more eye pain, . . . no more nausea, . . . upset stomach, or diarrhea! I could see so clearly that if I normally wore glasses, I know that I would have disgarded them earlier this morning. Unfortunately my body isn't any more muscular, sigh! Movie stories never happen in real life . . .
or do they . . .

Day5
I woke up this morning feeling even better then yesterday, GREAT! My eyes feel like dancing cherries. They arn't normal anymore though, I can feel it.

I rush to the bathroom to look and see if there is any more eye goo around them. There isn't. Just as I thought; but wait! Peering closer in the mirror I see a thin glaze over both my eye balls.

Then suddenly it hit me, my eyes have developed super human powers because of all the ultra-violet, micro-kinetic wave impulses that the monitors at work were sending off to me in abnormally large doses. I can now theoretically see through even the brightest of lights that would permanently blind a normal human being. I'm not sure how I know this all of the sudden but I just seem to understand it naturally.

K, I have to think of a name for myself. Like a super hero name. "THE AMAZING EYE.....!!" No, that won't work. Where's Bruce Campbell when you need him? Sigh . . . or maybe, "The Spectacular Eyeball Boy!!!" . . . It'll have to do.

To all those who are wondering why I bothered to write this, almost completely fictional story, and why I didn't explain more about how work is actually going, .....well, I think it speaks for itself. I'm enjoying work but staring at a computer screen all day can only be so exciting.

Confessions of an office dullard

Well, this is my 4th day at work . . . the first two days I had a headache. Staring at not one, but two computer screens at the same time can really mess with your eyes.

Day 1
My hands are warm and clammy as I walk into the building to meet Brad, my new employer. I don't know what to work on, but I'll persevere. My eyes are starting to have a slight tingling sensation.

Day2
My body is sinking more and more into the contours of my chair every hour that I sit stagnent; huntched over; squinting. The job isn't really that bad. In fact I quite enjoy it. My eyes are feeling really weird though. They're starting to hurt a bit.

Day3
....My eyes, oohhhh the pain!! They burn with a furious passion that has me wondering how much longer I can go before they melt in their sockets. ....so..much...........presssssurree!!

Day4
I woke up feeling great this morning. I faintly remembered feeling better all the sudden in the middle of the night when the pain was unbearably at its worst. As I Look in the bathroom mirror I notice some yellow semi-transparent substance all around the crevices of my eyes and running down my cheeks. Is it just ordinary eye goo? No . . . . it's something completely different, but what I don't know.

On another note, apparently the Spiderman 3 trailer is out, drool. I haven't seen it yet unfortunately because I don't have sound on my computer at work. But the article I skimmed on ign about it makes it look awesome.

Graduation

Sorry for not updating recently, but I was quite busy with graduation from the Animation & Graphics program that I've been taking for the past 2 years. Let us not forget about that 1 year preperatory program called Art Fundamentals either shall we?!

I'm not sure if I ever would have posted again if it wasn't for yesterday when I walked up on stage to grab my diploma. The cameras were flashing, my teeth sparkled, my lushous hair glistened in the wind, then it hit me! At that moment, as I touched the fake diploma casing, I realized that the world had stopped rotating on its axis. I didn't think much of it at the time, as I was way too busy forgetting to take my fake diploma casing with me down the steps and off stage.

Then the impact of it all hit me harder just as I was strolling back to my seat. Ignoring my parents who were up front trying to take pictures of me, my face began to twist with sheer horror and seering pain. I had forgot to update my blog, NO WONDER THE WORLD HAD STOPPED ROTATING!!!

Ahem, now in all seriousness, if there is anyone out there who just happens to briefly gaze upon this humble little blog, please feel free to come back again and invite your friends too.

Shanel has been the final persuasion for me starting my own blog. I'm completely new to this so here it goes.
